Familia Suspended For 15 Games

Mets closer Jeurys Familia has been suspended by the MLB for 15 games for violating the league’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child-abuse policy . Tough look for a guy whose last name literally translate to family. Any family disturbance is not a good look but for Familia, a dios mio!

In sports today, domestic violence isn’t something to mess with. Familia was arrested for assault on October 31st, and the charges were later dropped. He and his wife cooperated fully with the MLB’s investigation and in the end, commish Rob Manfred found Familia’s actions to be inappropriate and violate the league policy. Tough break for a guy who had his charges dropped. However, as stated before, domestic violence is nothing to mess with. Just being in the situation can get you suspended. Let that be a lesson for the rest of the league.

Familia had 51 saves for the Mets last year and posted a 2.55 ERA while doing so. In his absence, Addison Reed will fill the void.
